Sonoma Part I

Stephen recently turned twenty-five (or as he joked, "halfway to fifty!"), and I took him on a little overnight trip to Sonoma to celebrate. We had so much fun! We already have such an appreciation for food and wine, so we're very excited to live in an area that's conducive to learning more. A Whole Foods employee told me that San Francisco has the highest ratio of restaurants to people in the entire United States! I may or may not have geeked out a little over that.

Anyway, that statistic doesn't have anything to do with Sonoma, but the point is that we're in a very food and wine friendly region. :)

While on this trip, we definitely focused more on the wine portion of that dynamic duo! We went to two tastings on Saturday, one at J Vineyards & Winery and one at Rodney Strong. We bought a bottle from each, and the Chardonnay from J Vineyards ended up being perfect for our post-church garden lounging session on Easter Sunday. We also snacked on some pine nut hummus and the nutty, rich pairing ended up being perfect--albeit accidental.

Stephen's birthday dinner ended up being at 11 pm at Applebee's because we had to take a wine- and sun-induced nap that evening and by the time we woke up, everything was closed. But hey, that's where all the SF foodies are going these days, right? ;)

Here are some snaps from the first day of our little adventure, including a mini outfit post!

Car selfies-- I actually got him to smile for this one!

Stephen forgot his sunglasses and borrowed mine. Thank goodness masculine styles are in!

Bubbly for the birthday boy!

I'm so thankful that this amazing man was born! Cheers to the day I celebrate his hundred and twenty-fifth birthday with him!
